ABOUT US

ZLabs3D is a classic story of a hobby turned into madness which later evolved into an obsession-fueled pursuit of printing efficiency and perfection. Naturally  the only way to go from that point is in the form of a business venture. Thus ZLabs3D (ZhumeisterLabs) was founded in 2017.

Before ZLabs3D, Michael was a full stack software engineer. He discovered his affinity for 3D printing as a hobbyist just trying to make some custom drone and car parts for fun. He bought his first 3D printer at his job at a well known tool company and later became the in-house professional at his job when he built the printer during his lunch. At the time, the word "no" was not a part of his vocabulary when his boss caught him playing with the printer and the word spread, so the pressure mounted and he quickly became an expert in 3D printing. What he didn't know is that 3D printers are like Tribbles.  One 3D Printer became two, two printers became eight,  and one day he turned around and realized his basement was filled to the brim along with his dining room and an upstairs bedroom.  In light of the fact that he was finding random bits of plastic in his underwear at the end of each day, it was time for a change, and thus THE BIG LEAP to a warehouse occurred... and a full time commitment.  In 2020, ZLabs3D made the jump into becoming a full time hustle.

ZhumeisterLabs LLC is our official registered name.

You can blame this mouthful on Michael's former coworker, Alex.  In 2011, the nickname, Zhumeister, was formed from Michael's surname because of the extra detail and attention he gave to his work. It just kind of stuck through the years. As anyone could've guessed though, imagine having to spell or type out ZhumeisterLabs... over and over again to clients, customers, a sales pitch. Yeah...  seven characters is much better!
